True to Form - Wayne's Latest Outrage

Well, I don't have the roll call, but here's how Wayne-o voted:

Voting for the bill were 216 Democrats and two Republicans — Wayne Gilchrest ( news, bio, voting record) of Maryland and Walter Jones ( news, bio, voting record) of North Carolina. Of the 212 members who opposed the bill, 198 were Republicans and 14 were Democrats.

He must figure he has nothing to lose.

For those of you just tuning in and for whom the simple fact that Wayne-O was one of only two Repub...(I can't bring myself to write the whole word) voting with the rest of the Democrats against his colleagues, again just isn't enough, the outrage is just this: He voted to approve an emergency supplemental appropriations bill, larded with Blue Dog Pork, to provide continued funding for the Iraq War as well as other GWOT activities.

HOWEVER....the reason why 198 of his colleagues voted against it was because it contained a timetable for retreat and surrender and off-cutting funds for the troops in harm's way. This is also the reason why it will, hopefully, die in the Senate and, if not, on the President's desk.

I am awarding myself a bottle of Chianti, by the way.

Wayne Gilchrest cannot be trusted. I am stuck in his district. I sincerely hope someone is preparing to fight him head on in 2008. It's time for a change. Of course, I didn't vote for him last November.

Hey Bud! Thanks for the comment!

I voted for the Democrat, too. But I am working to try and get one of two state senators to challenge him this term. Stay tuned!

Where are you from? Are you a PublicSquare member?

Mike,

I heard about Andy Harris. Who else may be considering a run? Nancy Jacobs, perhaps? I know she's from Harford. I am unsure if she lives in the first congressional district. Democrat or republican, I hope someone targets his seat. If targeted, he's beatable.

I live in good old Pasadena. Most of Pasadena is represented by Dutch Ruppersberger. My small peninsula is stuck with Gilchrest.

What's PublicSquare?

Bud,
ThePublicSquare is an e-mail group I set up a few years back to allow conservative Republicans try to bring the party back to the right.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ThePublicSquare/

Brian Griffiths and Greg Kline are members as are many of the County's elected Republicans.

Oh and I found a link to your Blog on DK's blog. I just added yours to mine as well.

Mike,

While I am conservative, I not a republican. Admittedly, I tend to vote that way. Although a lot of people say they vote the person and not the party, very few stay true to that form. When it comes time to choosing a candidate, I honestly try to pick the best person, regardless of party affiliation.

Greg Kline is the exact opposite of me. He believes in promoting republicans simply because, to him, they're naturally better than democrats. Him and I have disagreed from time to time in various blogs. The exchanges are cordial, but we definitely see things a different way. Greg and I have never discussed Gilchrest, but I suspect he'd vote for him simply because of the "R" next to his name. Ironically, Gilchrest plays as if he's on Pelosi's team.

Thanks for adding me to your blog. David Kyle recommended yours to me. Looks like some good stuff. I look forward to discussing politics with you.

Also, someone needs to convince E.J. Pipkin to run against Gilchrest in '08. He would be a formidable opponent for Gilchrest.
